Every spot goes through a two-step process:
- Email confirmation: The submitter clicks a verification link in their email — this prevents automated spam.
- Manual review: The E-SURFER team checks coordinates, descriptions, and photos before the spot goes live.
Approved spots are published on the map and the submitter gets a confirmation email.

Water types: Sea / Ocean · Lake · River · Bay / Lagoon · Reservoir · Other
Difficulty:
- Beginner — calm flat water, no boat traffic, perfect for first sessions
- Intermediate — some chop or light wind, occasional boat wake, suitable after 3–5 sessions
- Advanced — open water, significant chop, currents, or heavy traffic — requires solid riding skills
Each pin on the map is color-coded by type so you can instantly see what kind of place it is:
- Riding Spot (teal) — a public or semi-public location where eFoiling is possible. Lakes, bays, beaches, rivers. Submitted by riders from their own experience.
- eFoil School (amber) — an operator offering eFoil lessons, courses or guided sessions. Usually has an instructor and a fleet of boards to ride.
- eFoil Dealer (blue) — a shop or showroom where you can buy eFoils and accessories. May also offer test rides on request.
- Test Center (purple) — an official brand demo center where you can try specific eFoil models, usually by appointment. Often run directly by the manufacturer or an authorized partner.
You can filter the map by type using the filter bar at the top.
About eFoiling
An eFoil is a surfboard with a silent electric motor powering an underwater hydrofoil wing. From around 15 km/h, the board rises above the water — you glide and carve through the air, with only the foil in the water.
- Speed: 15–50 km/h
- Battery life: 60–120 minutes per charge
- No waves needed — works on any water
- Leading brands: Lift Foils, Aerofoils, Fliteboard, Waydoo, SiFly

No. Regulations vary significantly by country, region, and specific water body. Some areas require permits, restrict speeds, or prohibit motorized watercraft entirely.
Always check local regulations before riding. The spots listed here reflect submitters' personal experience — we cannot guarantee current legal status at any location. When in doubt, contact local authorities or a local eFoil school.
Most riders can stand up and ride within 1–2 sessions. Foiling (lifting off the water) typically takes 3–5 sessions at a calm spot. Previous surfing or wakeboard experience helps but is not required.
Starting at a Beginner-rated spot — flat, calm, no boat traffic — makes learning significantly faster and safer. E-SURFER runs eFoil schools in Germany where you can try before you buy.
